The Institute for Global Food Security (IGFS) at Queen’s, in collaboration with the Northern Ireland Grain Trade Association (NIGTA), has established the “Food Fortress” programme, a robust, broad spectrum and cost effective initiative for monitoring for potential feed contamination.
Forty-seven feed producing companies across the province have signed up to the programme, ensuring that nearly 100% of the animal feed used is being sampled and analysed. As a result, ‘Food Fortress’ is now widely recognised as the most comprehensive initiative for monitoring animal feeding in the world.
